Cardiorespiratory fitness is the most important component of health-related fitness. It is one of the best indicators of how well the heart, lungs, circulation, and muscles are functioning. Training with HR & Power is a 4 hour learning opportunity to enhance your training process. Learn more about determining your Anaerobic Threshold, the point at which your body can no longer process enough oxygen to feed the muscles the required amount of energy-and your body's optimal fat burning heart rate zone.

Optimize your training time, energy and skills when you work within your Personalized Heart Rate Zones and Training Plans. Coach Ian MacLean will discuss key training drills that will increase riding efficiency and riding power. Combined with a one hour Power YogaFlow session you will experience the zone/flow connecting each yoga pose to the next with your breath. !!! This workshop is ideal for those avid Golfers who want to be ready for when the golf season finally arrives.  The workshop will teach you new and fabulous ways to prepare yourself physically and mentally for your golf game.  Widely used by top PGA professionals, Yoga is now regarded as a must do if you want to improve your game, increase your flexibility and play regularly while reducing the possibility of injuries.

Joining us will be a special guest, the former head of instruction from the world renowned Jim McLean Golf Schools.  He will be on hand to give you tips to complement this exciting workshop.

Get advanced, hands-on training for improving your riding skills and attaining the results you want! Learn to perfect a series of core cycling competencies under the careful direction of one of Canada’s top cycling experts, Ian MacLean.  The cycling training will be augmented by a leading edge Yoga for Cyclists introduction session taught by Sandra Abbott, owner and founder of YogaTent.

This advanced cycling course is designed for the triathlete at heart.  This premier offering will combine the core riding skills essential to every great rider with the ultimate cross training Yoga poses to increase cycling efficiency and avoid repetitive motion injuries allowing you to ride longer and injury free.

This enjoyable, effective course consists of classroom and on-bike sessions.

Course content

A combination of classroom sessions and outdoor riding helps you improve your skill and confidence in race situations. Topics taught include the following:

  • Riding in groups safely and efficiently
  • Proper cornering techniques
  • Proper ascending and descending skills
  • Hill climbing
  • Proper gearing and braking techniques
  • 5 key Yoga poses (asanas) to a stronger and injury free body

Prerequisites and what to bring

Students should have some cycling background and recent racing experience. Bike, helmet, clothing appropriate for weather (rain or shine!), cycling shoes, and WATER / H2O.

Paul is a practitioner of Traditional Thai Massage and has been teaching internationally for over 4 years. His practice stems from a deep appreciation for the Thai culture and healing practices. He has been studying yoga for over 7 years and promotes a collaboration of the two healing systems.

Paul’s inspiration comes from different sources: his many teachers and students, most notably, the teacher within. He has studied in Thailand with several teachers including Itzhak, Chyuthe, Therdchai and others.

Thai Yoga Massage works to stimulate, open and balance the flow of energy through the sen lines to assist the body in its natural tendency towards self-healing.  Learn to use your hands, feet, and elbows to apply pressure to important points along these lines, in combination with gentle stretching and applied hatha yoga.

Learn how to work with intention and proper body mechanics while you give your partner a fluid 30 minute Thai Yoga Massage!!!

Correlating ball flight factors and physical factors.  Learn more about the 5 factors that determine the flight and destination of the golf ball.  For golfers who are trying to hit the ball straighter and longer find out how muscle balance and flexibility, static and dynamic postural stability, strength, and power effect ball flight.  This dynamic workshop includes a 1-hour special yoga class designed to bring symmetry, balance, and body awareness.  Take some wonderful ideas home with you and look forward to playing a better golf game…..gonna love it!!!

A strong, stable body that is fluid and flexible creates the foundation for a healthy, injury free golfer.  Power, balance, and weight transfer all depend on fluidity in the body.

*Registration required.  Yoga Series for Golfers is a progressive series of 6 yoga sessions designed to advance each participant gradually throughout a sequence of yoga asanas (postures).  The 8 limbs of yoga and a comprehensive VinyasaFlow yoga sequence will be practiced to improve strength, flexibility, and body alignment.  The series places emphasis on the hips and shoulders as well as breathing and meditation techniques to help quiet the mind and develop mental concentration and focus.
