Restorative Yoga

Stillness is a powerful practice. Restorative yoga poses are typically held for anywhere from five to twenty minutes. This style of yoga, rooted in the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, emphasizes the use of props to alleviate strain and pain. The practice harmonizes movement, meditation, and breath to release tension and nourish the nervous system. In class, you will open your fascia, connective tissue, and larger muscles, finding tranquility with the help of bolsters, blocks, cushions, and blankets. Props are provided for practice! Please bring your yoga mat and a blanket.

When to Practice Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is appropriate anytime your body or mind is in need of rest. This includes:

  • Feeling tired or run down
  • Recovering from illness or injury
  • Navigating major life changes or transitions
  • Experiencing stress, anxiety, or overwhelm
